Who's moving to the Maharishi European Sidhaland?Sidhaland Director, John Collins, catches up with half a dozen new membersfrom Transcendental Meditation News 'It was during the Summer Course of 2001 that I realised I really wanted to move to Skelmersdale,' says Stephen Warren. 'We were planning to move away from Woking anyway and had no job commitments. I liked the programme in the Dome and the people here.' Stephen's wife Ann felt differently. 'To be honest I only came because Stephen wanted to. But it has gone wonderfully well. I'm quite astonished. It bowled me over completely - the people we've met, the community atmosphere, and I've even started two part time jobs.' Once the Warrens made the decision to move, matters worked well for them with a quick house sale. Since arriving they are already on their way to fulfilling their hearts desire as they have bought a building plot in Skelmersdale 10 minutes walk from the Dome and on the edge of the Beacon Country Park. They hope to move into their newly built Maharishi Sthapatya Veda home within twelve months. Stephen has some advice for readers of Transcendental Meditation News. 'It's exceeded our expectations. If you are thinking about moving here, give it a go. You'll be surrounded by friendly, positive people of a quality that isn't found easily elsewhere.' David Cooke has just arrived from Hitchin, Hertfordshire. 'I've always enjoyed visiting the Sidhaland, but the Iraq war crisis made me re-evaluate. I realised I could be doing more for national coherence and my own evolution by being in the Dome. Also, it became clear that there was nothing that I was doing in Hitchin that I couldn't do in Skelmersdale. It was very easy to move. In fact Bryan Irving, who works for the Dome kindly came and helped. Since arriving I've been adjusting to a new routine and sorting out my home. I'm very happy I came and am enjoying group programme in the Dome very much.' Diane Scott moved back to the Sidhaland at the end of 2002 after a ten year gap. 'I wanted to come back to old friends, a supportive community and the group programme. It took me about a year to sort everything out and get here. When I arrived it really did feel like a 'coming home.' It's lovely doing the TM Sidhi programme in the Dome. Also I'd forgotten how lovely the surrounding country is here. Everyone in the community seems well and there's a maturity to the place.' Janet and Jeremy Bowler were feeling it was time for a change. In deciding where to move they looked for coherence, a good job for Jeremy and a nice home. Janet explains. 'We thought about Devon but it was expensive and there was no group programme, so we opted for the Sidhaland. I've been prejudiced against the North West and Skelmersdale for years! But when we came it just felt like coming home to family. We should have done it years ago. Also I hadn't realised it's very beautiful around here which is very important to me as an artist. And the programme is so different in the Dome. This means a lot to us. We've actually remembered what coherence feels like. I just love it here.' Jeremy is also enthusiastic. 'Work was a big question for me, but in fact a job turned up very easily as a Physics tutor at a college in nearby St Helens. It was temporary to start with but has since become permanent, which is definitely nature support. As to the Sidhaland, I'm very excited about the expansion initiatives being launched here and I'm looking forward to participating. Actually we haven't visited Skelmersdale much in the last seven years and it's noticeable how much more full and established the Ideal Village has become.' Overall Jeremy and Janet both agree, 'It feels completely right to be here in the large group at this time. We just love it here!' If you are wondering about a move to Skelmersdale, phone the Dome on 01695 728847 for a chat. Or visit the Sidhaland's website which is updated every week: www.maharishi-european-sidhaland.org.uk There's a lot going on here, but there's no pressure to participate. It's up to you how much you join in. |
