Eightieth birthday treat
A U.S. citizen resident in Jerusalem, Beverley Crawford (80) previously lived in Maharishi European Sidhaland for five years. As an eightieth birthday treat, she is currently enjoying a three-month return visit to the Sidhaland. Beverley began her visit with a course of Maharishi Rejuvenation Treatment (Panchakarma). She is now loving “just being here” – she enjoys group practice of the TM-Sidhi programme in the Dome and spends time with friends. Beverley appreciates the Ayurvedic lunches available here, both Rita’s organic meals in the Dome dining room, and the Indian-style cooking of Frances Gaskell.
Beverley trained as a teacher of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation (TM) in 1977, and taught hundreds of people to meditate, both in the U.S. and to the English-speaking population of Jerusalem.
A lifetime in fashion
After a lifetime in the fashion world, Beverley continues to enjoy occasional work as a colour and image consultant – she advises people on the right colours to wear from head to toe for an integrated, personalised look. When asked to describe herself, Beverley modestly replied “outgoing.” Let’s add to that “blissful, elegant, cosmopolitan, great conversationalist, youthful, energetic and…wise!”
Beverley “holds court” after lunch on a variety of topics. She pioneered outdoor fashion shows in Manhattan’s Central Park in the 1960’s. She has eight great-grandchildren. She lives in the “holy city” of Jerusalem, near her son and his family. Ask to see the photos of her recent 10-day run of Camelot in which she was on stage throughout as Lady Anne (lady-in-waiting to the Queen)!
Lived in the Sidhaland for five great years
Beverley lived in the Maharishi European Sidhaland from 1995-2001. She relates, “I loved it. I did lots of Creating Coherence Programme (CCP) and World Peace Assembly (WPA) courses, plus Panchakarma treatment at Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre. I went through a powerful transformation of mind and body. I so appreciated it when I went back into activity, in Jerusalem. People kept telling me, ‘You have so much energy. You look so young.’ Everything was easier. I noticed an improvement in relationships. My son is a non-meditator, but very religious. He points to his watch when it’s time for me to meditate. He asks me, ‘Mother, for your meditation programme, which room would you like?’ ”
"No-one looks older"
Of her current visit, Beverley comments, “Everyone looks the same – no-one looks older. I go out with friends to Cedar Farm, or to a restaurant. On Saturday night, two friends took me to the folk festival in Ormskirk – the music was wonderful!”
Beverley flies back to Israel in September. She comments, “We have a Sidha village three hours from Jerusalem on top of a mountain, with the same number of people as you have here. Maharishi Sthapatya Veda houses have been built. It’s lovely to meditate on the mountain-top.”
