William Gilmour [WG]: Describe yourself.
Chris Davies [CD]: I was born in London in 1952 – so I’m 52 years of age. I spent most of my life living in Plymouth. I attended college in the West Midlands and studied B.Ed for 2 years. I’m married to Valerie.
WG: How did you come to learn to meditate?
CD: My parents held the first Transcendental Meditation (TM) meetings in Plymouth in 1966. Various people arrived to stay at our house and teach. The teachers would come from Rishikesh in India, where Maharishi had his headquarters and ashram (forest academy) at that time. I learned TM myself in 1974.
WG: Any hobbies?
CD: I’ve been interested in sailing from an early age, since I was 9 years of age. I was a member of the Sidhaland sailing set, for 12 -15 years! I’m currently in the final stages of obtaining a JAR FCL 2 Helicopter Pilot's Licence. I’m a frequent flyer over Skelmersdale in a Hughes 269 or Robinson R44 Raven - look out for a black helicopter. I enjoy films, shooting. I trained as a music teacher for the brass range of instruments – I play the french horn. I really appreciate group TM-Sidhi programme in the Dome.
WG: Why did you decide to move to the Sidhaland?
CD: I heard about the project in 1980 and came for a brief visit. I was offered a job and then physically hijacked from my flat! I settled in Skemersdale.
WG: What do you enjoy most about living here?
CD: I like the sense of community, community purpose, good friends, activities, good communication. I like the local countryside and proximity of Manchester and Liverpool.
WG: What new development in the Sidhaland would you most appreciate? What would you be prepared to do to make it happen?
CD: I am actively involved in the vastu group. I am committed to seeking out a perfect vastu site, and to re-establishing the Sidhaland community (including a new Maharishi School) in an integrated Maharishi Sthapatya Veda development.
WG: What do you expect to be doing in ten years from now and where?
CD: I’ll be retired…with homes in the North West of England and abroad.
WG: Thanks for taking the time, Chris.
CD: Thank you.
