Annie Mercer [AM]: Parties are excellent here - great company, beautiful venue in perfect vastu, and everyone helps!
William Gilmour [WG]: So that's why you moved here?
Titus Mercer [TM]: Not only that…! We moved here in 1980 to be in a big group of Yogic Flyers. We worked in the Age of Enlightenment Company factory, where about 80 people were employed in a variety of small businesses. Everyone meditated, worked and ate together in the factory, and lived in newly built council houses.
AM: Things have changed a lot since then!
WG: Yes, you now live in a 5 bedroom Maharishi Sthapatya Veda (MSV) house that you built yourselves - can you tell me a bit about that?
TM: Actually, we were really lucky. We heard about the plot on the corner of the Dome site becoming available, and just thought, "Let's do it!" We had a huge amount of good luck, and a lot of fun, organising the design, planning permission, MSV consultation, and the actual building of the house. I love woodwork and we have a lot of panelling on the floors and ceilings as well as wooden floors, most of which I did myself.
WG: So what's it like living in a MSV house?
AM: It's lovely, we all really love the house. There's light coming in from all directions and everyone comments on the warm and settled atmosphere, which can't be just our influence - you can imagine the liveliness of a big family!
TM: We've certainly had a lot of good luck since we moved here, and several big unexpected changes in our lives which have turned out for the best.
WG: So what direction is your life taking at the moment?
TM: I do a lot of building work for community members, but I'm also developing a business building pavilions for people to have in their garden, as a summer house, an office, or an extra room. They are becoming very popular.
WG: Great idea! And Annie?
AM: I feel very happy with my home life and my part-time work in the Dome and at the Maharishi School, and of course I'll help Titus with the pavilions as the business expands. There's so much going on, big plans to build Peace Palaces and expand Sidha communities - there's never a shortage of things to do!
WG: Thank you very much, and good luck with all your plans!
TM/AM: Thank you!
