M6: Junction 26 - M58: Junction 5 - Slip road
As you reach the end of the slip road, you come onto what looks like a roundabout, but is in fact the end of a dual carriageway, and does not complete a circle. Follow it round, ignoring all the left turns, and you come under the motorway onto the A577, Stannanought Road, Dual carriageway. Follow this straight on to:
Roundabout : Straight across - then 3km along single carriageway
Roundabout : Turn right - then 250m
Roundabout : Straight across - then 300m
Roundabout : Straight across (3rd exit) - then 40m - turn right
Woodley Park Road is the first turning on the right, and
you can see the Dome in front of you. The entrance is on

Trains from London
Trains run every hour from London Euston to Wigan North Western – the journey takes 2 hours. A standard Saver Return costs around £75. Travelling on Sundays can be difficult with several changes so please check in advance. Either take a taxi from Wigan (see advice under ‘Taxis’), or take a train from Wigan Wallgate to Parbold then a taxi from Parbold.

or Parbold. Ormskirk
is closer to Skelmersdale than Wigan,
with Parbold the closest.
Taxis from Wigan North Western/Wigan Wallgate rail stations
We recommend arranging for ‘Skem-Express’ Taxis (01695 50005) to meet your train, as they are cheaper. Alternatively, you can get a Wigan taxi from in front of the station. The cost is around £15.
Taxis from Parbold rail station
A ‘Skem-Express’ taxi costs around £6. The nearest payphone is in ‘The Railway’ pub next to the station. Ask to go to the Dome, in Ashurst, Skelmersdale.We can sometimes arrange for you to be met by one of our members – enquire when you book your stay.

Manchester Airport is just over one hour by rail to Parbold. Trains to Parbold run every 2 hours on weekdays. The cost is around £10. A taxi from Parbold to the Dome costs around £6 (01695 50005).

London airportsIf you fly to one of the London airports (Heathrow, Gatwick or Stanstead) you will need to catch a train from London Euston Station to Wigan North Western (see details under ‘By Rail').
Coach travel is usually cheaper than travelling by rail, but journey times are longer - up to twice as long. See National Express for information on travel by Coach. Sample fare: London to Wigan or Liverpool, £39 for an open return. Also, Megabus offer budget Coach travel from £1.
